The Sherline 10-Inch Tabletop Mill XYZ Base CNC Ready (Metric) is a versatile milling machine designed for precision and adaptability. This model is particularly suitable for lathe owners who wish to utilize their existing headstock and motor/speed control, allowing for a seamless transition between lathe and mill operations. The mill's design facilitates quick and efficient swapping of components, enhancing its utility and cost-effectiveness.
The 10-inch XYZ base is a robust foundation, identical to the one used in the 5000-series mills. It features a 10-inch base equipped with mounts for stepper motors on the X, Y, and Z axes, making it ready for CNC applications. This configuration allows for precise control and automation, expanding the mill's capabilities in various production settings. The base's travel dimensions are X=9.0 inches (228 mm), Y=3.0 inches (76 mm), and Z=6.25 inches (159 mm), providing ample range for a variety of milling tasks.
CNC-ready XYZ bases are equipped with three low mass 1-5/8 inch handwheels, which can be attached to dual shaft stepper motors for manual control. This feature offers the flexibility of both manual and CNC operations, although manual control is only possible once the appropriate stepper motors are installed. The CNC-ready design is particularly advantageous for small production line processes, where precise and automated control is essential.
Note: CNC-ready machines cannot be operated manually until stepper motors are installed.
