The Sherline 12-Inch Deluxe Tabletop Mill XYZ Base CNC Ready (Inch) is a versatile and efficient milling machine designed for precision and adaptability. This model is particularly advantageous for lathe owners, as it allows for the quick transfer of the headstock and motor/speed control from a lathe to the mill, facilitating seamless integration and operation. The mill is constructed with a robust 12-inch base, which is the same as that used in the 5400-series mill, ensuring stability and reliability during use.

The XYZ base of this mill is CNC-ready, featuring stepper motor mounts on the X, Y, and Z axes. This configuration is ideal for users who wish to incorporate stepper motors for enhanced control and automation, although the stepper motors themselves are not included. The base and table are laser engraved, providing precise measurements and ease of use. The travel dimensions for the axes are X=8.65 inches, Y=5.0 inches, and Z=6.25 inches, offering ample range for various milling tasks.

Included with the CNC-ready XYZ base are three low mass 1-5/8 inch handwheels. These handwheels can be attached to the rear shaft of dual shaft stepper motors, allowing for manual control in addition to CNC operation. This dual functionality is particularly beneficial for small production line processes where both manual and automated control may be required. However, it is important to note that manual control is not possible on CNC-ready bases until dual shaft stepper motors are installed, as the handwheels cannot be directly mounted onto the stepper motor mounts.

Note: CNC-ready machines cannot be operated manually unless double-shaft stepper motors are installed.
